In December 2015 Community Living – Fort Erie chose to participate in an On-Site Validation by FOCUS.
An on-site validation is a chance for experts from outside of your organization to “validate” our organization’s quality improvement efforts. Having an on-site validation is a requirement for accreditation.
Before scheduling our on-site validation, FOCUS suggested we would need to spend at least 12-18 months preparing. We would need to be able to demonstrate that our organization has MET the standards for at least three months. Based on the “evidence” they would collect before and during the on-site validations.
Our hard work paid off! AS A RESULT OF THIS PROCESS, WE RECEIVED A 4 YEAR ACCREDITATION!
Part of becoming accredited required us to provide a quality improvement plan. This plan outlines how we intend to continue to work on improving over the next four years of our accredition.
