I hope you all had a wonderful and joyous Holiday Season! I would also like to take this opportunity to wish you all the best for 2016.
The Association continues to move forward with our Strategic Plan. The plan continues to guide us to meet our vision and mission of full inclusion for everyone.
In late December “Focus” accreditation conducted their site visit in anticipation of receiving another 4 year accreditation. We should hear the results by late January. I want to thank everyone who participated in the process your input and comments are invaluable.
The Ministry of Community and Social Services is embarking on a Multi-Year plan for Residential Services and supports in 2016/2017 and 2017/2018. Priorities will be identified and plans developed. This will be extremely helpful to organizations as we move forward.
The Ministry has identified 6 Principles that will achieve their vision to support adults with a developmental disability to live as independently as possible in the community and to support their full inclusion in all aspects of society. These Principles are as follows: Fairness and Equity, Accessibility and Portability, Safety and Security, Accountability, Sustainability, and Citizenship.
Over the next while you will be hearing more detail of how these Principles will translate into supports for people with developmental disabilities and how our agency will participate.
Our organization continues to struggle financially to meet the increasing costs of doing business but we are always looking at ways to ensure we continue to offer the very best services and supports possible with the resources we have.
In closing I would like to thank the fundraising committee for 2015 Christmas in Italy. They helped to raise over $28,000.00. This is an extraordinary accomplishment and we can’t wait for the 2016 “Christmas in Mexico”
Robert (Bob) Majkut, President
