“The 3C’s in life; Choice, Chance, Change. You must make the Choice to take the Chance if you want anything in Life to Change.”~ Anonymous
The Association continues on our road to inclusion. We have not offered segregated Day supports for seven years. Our vision and mission supports inclusive opportunities for people and we do not use organizational resources to support activities that are segregated. People we support may choose to attend segregated activities but they must do so with their own resources.
In our residential settings we continue to support people to be included in the community that are meaningful to them. We promote people to make informed decisions about what activities they want to be involved in through encouraging community participation. Community Living~fort Erie staff have been committed to moving the Inclusion Agenda forward. While at times it is a struggle it is very apparent that this is the way we must go.
Community Living Month was celebrated by raising our flag at Town Hall, followed by a walk for Inclusion organized by our self-advocate group “Advocates in Motion”. It was well attended and well received by the Community.
The Board and Staff continue to work on the Strategic Plan and have made definite inroads into moving forward with the recommendations.
The Ministry of community and social Services continues to invest in agencies such as ours. They also continue to invest resources in individualized supports through Passport funding and Special Services at Home for individuals and families.
In December of this year we received a 4 year Accreditation with Focus. Our original Accreditation was in 2011 and we are very proud to once again receive this designation. Being measured against standards on a Provincial level shows us that we are doing what it takes to be an Agency of choice in our Community.
Our Annual Fundraiser “Celebrating Christmas in Italy” was once again a huge success. We raised over $28,000.00 for our Association. Many thanks to our volunteers, local businesses and community partners who helped to make this the event of the Season!
We would like to thank the People we Support, our Volunteers, the Staff and our Board of Directors. We all play a crucial role in ensuring Community Living~Fort Erie continues to provide quality services to our community.
