Our Association found itself in a flurry of new growth and development this past year.
The Ministry of Community & Social Services invested $810 million dollars for developmental services over the next 3 years.
Due to this funding announcement we were able to open a new group home for three young adults; as well our staff received a well-deserved increase in wages. The largest investment was to Passports and to Special Services at Home for individuals and families. This will give many opportunity to experience new opportunities in their communities.
We continue to look for opportunities to educate our community about our organization; who we are and what our beliefs are. We continue to make presentations to Town Council, attend meetings of Service Clubs, support our Self-Advocate Group to educate and create awareness of the many opportunities available to them, if they are willing to take the chance. The Community is truly remarkable and has proven over and over again that they support and believe in what we are doing with and for people with developmental disabilities.
Once again our annual fundraiser “Celebrating the Chinese New Year” was a huge success. The event raised over $25,000.00 for our Association. Thanks to the many volunteers who helped to make it an event to remember. Well done!!!!
While we continue to have many challenges we also experience so many more opportunities!!!
We would like to thank the Board of Directors, the Staff and the dedicated Volunteers but most importantly the people we serve and support. We all play a pivotal role in making Community Living~Fort Erie a great place to be.
This year will be my final year as your Board President and member of the Board. I have enjoyed my 10 years. I have grown as a person and wish you all the best as you move forward. Thanks for allowing me to be a part of your lives.
